What a special night ...
Here we are following the David Lanz Christmas concert (well, Christmas with a little Beetles mixed in). It was wonderful to have my family together (minus a few). We enjoyed so much this wonderful concert, but the highlight was spending time with David after the concert. He has been a friend of Eric and mine for a few years (I gave him to Eric for an anniversary gift ... long story) and he was excited to meet our children.
It was really nice to see David again. What a remarkable artist he is. We hope he and Eric will someday collaborate on a project. We're not entirely sure what that will look like ... yet. Eric has admired the work of this man for years! I am surely a fan as well, but there is something special about watching my husband listen to this sentimental music.
My favorite part of the night was watching Brennan give Marshy one of her Christmas gifts. She LOVES David Lanz and plays he pieces beautifully. She didn't know where Brennan was taking her until we got to the Covey Arts Center. She was all smiles the whole night. What a talent she is. She deserves to be in company with pianists like David.
Ryan, who's been playing the piano since he was young (but surely doesn't think he's good enough), was thrilled to meet David. He invited his great friend Paige to come. She's a doll and we love her.
Shawn, Autumn and Cody got their photo-op together. Shawn plays the piano beautifully and fully expects to be playing like David one day. During the concert he closed his eyes and plunked away on his leg. That tells you something! ;)
Cody sat SO still (for a six year old). I was very proud of him. He did, however, go sit in the back with Dad so he could "whisper" a little louder. He thinks David Lanz is "good, but not as good as Shawn." Hee-hee!
Autumn enjoyed herself so much. David Lanz's songs have been played to her all her life. There are a few songs that will always be very sentimental of her childhood. Cristofori's Dream is obviously her favorite! We all love it!
David, thanks for giving us of your special time. You are a remarkably gifted man!
